Untethered is developed by a solo developer, and I do my best to predict how long things will take, anything can happen!

But with that said, here's the rough roadmap!

DEMO 2 (OUT NOW!)

Updating UNTIL LATE NOVEMBER 2024

A major update of the demo, so go check it out! It is being actively updated.

DEMO 2.5.0

NOVEMBER 2024

The final update to Demo v2. It will primarily include technical features, such as:

  • MacOS support
  • Backend localisation support
  • Control rebinding
  • Y-Invert setting
  • FOV adjustment
  • Other technical/QOL features

CLOSED Pre-alpha 10

January 2025

Finally returning to working on the full game!

  • Full save/load system support.
  • Cryogenic fuel loading (orbital transfers will cost fuel).
  • Cryogenic electrolysis and fluid networking.
  • Improvements to asteroid mining (to automatically generate fuel).
  • A LOT of balancing.

Closed Pre-alpha 11/CLosed alpha

MArch 2025

Reaching Early Access feature complete!

  • Service modules, which provide the ability to split your station and establish outposts in multiple orbits.
  • Probably some major science system reworking.
  • Hopefully some new places to explore.
  • Who knows what else?

Depending on feedback, this may be the beginning of the alpha period, or there may be another pre-alpha cycle after this. We'll find out as we get closer.

This will be for Steam Next Fest. Presumably the June one. Exact features undetermined, but I'd expect to see a few more things unlocked. Also still in the air about whether to include save/load...
