- Develop shaders, materials, post-processing effects, and VFX to complement environments and improve the gameplay experience.
- Explore and implement strategies for enhancing the overall visual quality of the product.
- Optimise assets, rendering, and deployment systems to ensure a smooth experience across runtime environments.
What are we looking for?
- A passion for workflow efficiency, experimentation, and learning.
- Highly experienced in Unity, particularly in shader and VFX development, and the Universal Rendering Pipeline.
- Proficient in Blender. Experience with other software such as Substance Painter, Inkscape, or Photoshop is also valuable.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills across creative, technical, and production disciplines.
- A formal degree or certification isn’t required - demonstrated experience is more valued.
- A strong drive to learn and improve.
- At this stage, applicants must reside in Victoria, Australia.
Other valued skills:
- C# programming with Unity’s scripting API. Particularly in developing Editor tools.
- Python for automation and tool creation.
- Being Melbourne-based is highly valued, but not essential.
Why you’ll love working on Untethered:
- This role is designed to mould around the skills you can offer, or the skills you’re interested in developing.
- Working on a game with an established and eager community is highly rewarding.
- High flexibility with choice of hours and remote work. Option to work either in a contract or part-time capacity.
- Relaxed working environment with a small independent team.
